Note: After much delay (which you can read about that here), I’m posting on April 14, 2024, this Sunday homily when I was as a deacon at the St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Hawaiian Gardens, Calif., next to Long Beach.

Centered around Luke 24:13-35, I gave it once on Sunday, April 23, 2023, probably for the 6 p.m. Vigil Mass. An aspect of my vocation story delves into the effects of my first meeting with Father Leland. Sometimes, one encounter can unfold into a wonderful friendship.
