Blogging 101: Day 12: Commiserating with other bittersweet memories

Today’s Blogging 101 assignment was to read other people’s post based on the same prompt I had used.  Most of the blog entries I saw focused on people.  But two made my eyes water.

  • A brother: This blog recounted a woman’s discovery that she had a twin brother long dead.  My mother thought that I should’ve had a brother.  But it wasn’t to be.  It makes me wonder how I would react if I discovered that I had a brother.  Anger?  Joy?  Surprise?  I’m not sure.
  • A mother: A woman remembered surprising her mother for her 80th birthday.  This reminded me of all the little ways I have helped my mother during this summer break.  The best is when I drive my mother around.  She would draw lessons from the problems in her family and our family.  I knew that she was giving me a treasure of wisdom.

Take time out to thank the people who matter to you the most.  Who did you thank today?  Please comment below.
