Today, Ash Wednesday, begins Lent in the Catholic Church.  Catholics use this time to grow closer to Christ by means of fasting, almsgiving and prayer.

If you’re hesitant to go to Confession, don’t be afraid.  This conduit of grace is always available to reestablish friendship with Christ.  Still, unsure?  Here is a video by Father Mike Schmitz on why the confessional is a place of victory.  We may feel that our sins, mistakes and failings are the final word on us, but Jesus’ merciful love trumps even those.
