Lenten Mission 2022: Blue Hills Collaborative

In the last week of March 2022, I gave a Lenten mission to the Blue Hills Collaborative around the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston. The theme was Return, Rejoice and Renew although previous bulletin notices listed Unity through Healing. This fun adventure taught me to roll with the unexpected surprises and mistakes in a mission. For example, the wrong printouts for the Scripture passages were at the Tuesday talk. But God made all things work.

The audio recordings of the talks are below with the Scripture passages for prayer and reflection.

Monday, March 28, 2022: Forgiveness: How can I forgive the unforgiveable?
Most Precious Blood, lower church, Hyde Park

How can I forgive the unforgiveable?

Scriptures: Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) and Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21-35)

Bonus material: Need more inspiration to go to Confession? Lance and Katie from The Coaster, a Catholic podcast, interviewed Fr. Rob Galea about Confession in October 2021. The priest in Australia offered interesting insights on this sacrament.

Tuesday, March 29, 2022: Blessed Virgin Mary: How much do I really know her?
St. Anne, Readville

How much I do I really know the Virgin Mary?

Scriptures: Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38) and Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).

Wednesday, March 30, 2022: Eucharist: Why should I bother with it?
St. Pius X, Milton

Why should I bother with the Eucharist?

If this talk sounds familiar, an earlier version was given at Sacred Heart parish in East Boston.

Scriptures: Vine and the Branches (John 15:1-10) and Part of the Bread of Life Discourse (John 6:53-58)

Use this mission to help prepare for Easter.

God bless.
