A dream: A garden for the Blessed Mother

Note: Check out the October newsletter from the retreat house and my latest reflection in The Lanterian, published on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021.

One more thing: Please support St. Joseph Retreat House through the OMV Annual Fund.

For this month of October, dedicated to the Rosary, I share with you a new dream from St. Joseph Retreat House. About four months ago, I wrote about my annual retreat at the Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown, N.J. The Jesuits finished a new garden dedicated to Mary.

Funny, how Mary was stirring up a similar idea at St. Joseph Retreat House.

Recently, a pair of trees was removed on the property, leaving a clearing which inspired Fr. Michael Warren, OMV to envision in its place, a garden dedicated to Mary. He imagines an oasis of prayer with a statue of Mary, flowers, stone paths and benches. This can address the need for more outdoor seating at the retreat house.

A garden dedicated to the Virgin Mary is planned for this clearing at St. Joseph Retreat House in Milton, Mass.

How will this garden turn out? My fellow Oblates and I at the retreat house have shared ideas about the garden. Stay informed about this latest project through the retreat house’s social media (Facebook and Instagram). Donate for the project here.

Please support St. Joseph Retreat House through the OMV Annual Fund. Your contributions help make maintain the facilities and keep the retreats affordable for all.

God bless.
